An emblem of repeated gears and tokens around a single number, on a dark field

Eighteen hotels in Japan, Europe, Mexico and Canada, sorted into two lists. On one side a building makes a unit and repeats it. On the other side nothing is made twice, and every room is its own piece of work.

Where everything repeats

Where nothing repeats

Repetition explains a building faster than a description of its style does. A repeated cell tells you the walls were already there; a repeated capsule tells you that washing and dressing were moved out of the sleeping place; a room made once tells you somebody was given the whole of it. Neither way of building is held up against the other here. Same and Single sets out how we read this and where the material comes from.
